If you insult an attorney, he'll want to email you back
I'll bet Bob had to google the term "film-flam man" before he started reading. As far as the last paragraph goes, Bob had sent an email asking if a certain amount of money was worth "loosing [sic] your warranty and me suing you all?" Once again, Trevor hit a home run with this email. His smarts make me seriously swoony.
Via his attorney, Bob said he wanted X amount of money and a mutual release before he would give us the warranty on the pool shell. (A mutual release meant that we couldn't turn around and sue him, and he couldn't sue us, either.) That wasn't going to work, though, because we still didn't have the allegedly- signed contract that we had asked for, nor were we going to pay ransom on the warranty that was rightfully ours. The other issue was that Bob had sent us a copy of an unsigned contract on September 27, 2021. RED FLAG #15: as Trevor and I looked it overt, we realized that some language had changed from the original contract dated April 20, 2021. In the September version, he added costs for a few things that he had never told us would be extra. Bob had also added language that voided ALL warranties unless he did the work of closing the pool for the summer. I knew for certain that caveat hadn't been in the original contract. This was seemingly a punishment for us because I had rejected his offer to close the pool, but he didn't think through the fact that one cannot simply add on to a contract when one feels like it.

Due to his attorney being out of the office quite a bit and offers being chewed on, this took longer than I thought it would. I know how slowly the law can move, so I shouldn't have been surprised. For weeks and weeks, this was sitting in the back of mind every waking hour. Finally, Bob gave (some of) the warranties we needed to his attorney. RED FLAG #16: I looked them over and realized that the brand of pump that was named in the invoice and most likely installed in our pool didn't match the brand of the pump whose warranty he sent. He was giving us a warranty on a pump that we didn't even have, so that was less than helpful. Trevor asked Bob's attorney to get the right warranty for us, and we didn't hear anything back. More time went by. Eventually, Trevor put a date and time on our offer: Friday, February 4 at 5:00 PM. If we didn't have everything we needed by end of business that day, our offer was null and void. I was on pins and needles that week wondering if we would end up paying or if Bob and his attorney would actually pony up the warranties we needed.
That Friday at 5:40 PM, I looked up from making dinner and gasped out loud, scaring Lottie in the process. I realized that I hadn't heard anything from Trevor which meant he hadn't heard anything from Bob or his attorney. Apparently Bob didn't want his money because we weren't given what we needed that day. Well, I'm sure he wanted his money, but he didn't have the warranty information we needed to make the deal. And just like that, we were done with Bob.
Our time with Region Pool and Spa is over, and I won't miss it a bit. Of course, we haven't opened the pool yet for the season, so I guess we'll see how well that goes. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we don't have to cross paths with Bob ever again. As T-Swizzle says, "Like, ever."
As soon as Trevor came home on that Friday, I asked him when I was allowed to finally write about it, so here I am. Again, I don't want sympathy or outrage or even your opinion on whether I should have written about it or not. I just don't want anyone else to start dealing with this company and realize too late that it was a mistake. Bob's mistake was assuming that my kindness was weakness and that Trevor's lack of involvement was lack of interest. Dude didn't realize that Trevor tends to Hulk out when anyone hurts me or our family, although, I did tell Bob from the beginning that making Trevor mad would be a big, BIG mistake. I'll be the first to admit that I was taken in by Bob and his promises because I tend to believe what people tell me. I hope that anyone reading this believes me: Region Pool and Spa is not worth your money, your time, or your sanity.
